This is from my wereleopard friend and I liked what he said about it. We were discussing us werecats but also the messages in some movies.
from the words of my wereleopard friend and what he said makes sense on why humans use a lot of Werewolves in movies. and books.
The thing is, they use this creatures to explain a human process, mostly puberty. So when a boy is growing he becomes a beast, he is out in the prowl, looking for mates and he looks good and he is this and that, so they use the term werewolf and they make movies and they make books and its always the same story, about how a bite (hickie much?) suddenly changes their world and they become this creature forever, like a curse (means they learn and once you learn you can never go back to your innocent virgin state) Same with girls cuz they cant be saints, they explore, they grow, they change and they use the cat because it needs to be S93y and what is S93ier than a cat? so ... in the end its all about explaining a process with a fairy tale. But hey! we are no fairy tale hahaha

To what we know the werewolf movies were created based solely on the werewolf legends.
